Outdoor playgrounds can become overwhelming and chaotic. The Gumnut retreat focuses on providing the opportunity to have a low-sensory space for hyper-sensitive reactions.

The play equipment integrates inclusive and biophilic design principles to support children with autism through sensory-aware environments. By addressing hyper- and hypo-sensitivities, the project promotes calmness, engagement, and social interaction in low-sensory play spaces. Inspired by Australian flora, the design encourages emotional openness and a deeper connection with culture.
